Nights With Alice Cooper

Let's talk Q Tunes!

Nights With Alice Cooper

Postby PiratePete77 on Tue Jan 12, 2010 5:50 pm

Am I missing something or has Alice Cooper been "relieved" of his night shift DJ duties on Q104?? I've tuned in to hear his great show a few times since the new year began and to my surprise he wasn't on the air. I've checked the What's On Q section of the web site and it says that he's still scheduled to be on the air from Mondays to Fridays midnight to 5am.......so I guess what I'm really wondering is "Alice......Where the F@#K is Alice???"

I agree with this. Nights with Alice Cooper is easily the best thing on the station. I have an Australian friend and he says Nights with Alice Cooper is still playing regularly on whatever radio station he listens to, so...

Long story short, and not to bore you with too much technical talk (which I wouldn't understand, anyway!) Alice was beamed from the Newcap station in Thunder Bay. That station has changed owners, and as a result, we've had to make other arrangements. Unfortunately, he's only available to us one night a week.

Sucks mightily that we won't have a nightly Alice fix, but he's still on Saturday nights from 8 until 3am.

And, yeah...we should probably change that on the website...

As Tommy said, it was a technical thing - basically we're too far east in the satellite's "footprint" to pick up the signal reliably ... so we relied on other stations in our chain to feed it to us, and we just sold the last Newcap station that carried it! We can pick up the weekend edition via an FTP site download, so while we're only able to bring you a single dose of Alice per week, we're hoping that the 8pm Saturday time slot will mean that more people can hear it.

AND ... we have something VERY enticing in the works for the overnight slot ... yes, CONAN O'BRIEN!!!

No, just kidding ... but there's something very cool in the offing ... as they say in radio, "stay tuned"!

damn technicalities........but like you said we still have him around for Saturday nights and a lil Coop goes a long way. I still have my autographed pants that I won from listening to his nightly show so I'll always have my fond memories of winning a pair of another man's pants as Alice so kindly worded it haha.

Conan would be awesome as a DJ!!!!......He must feel like royalty now since he's getting royally screwed.....

And as always I'm keeping it tuned in to the Q and I look forward to hearing whats in the offing for the nighttime

Thanks for the info Tom and JC

I think Ozzy and Keith Richards should team up and do a syndicated radio show. I could listen to their witty banter for hours on end.

Ahhhh Sixx Sense........good job there Q with getting someone to "fill in" for Alice Cooper on the night shift. Who better than Nikki Sixx. I look forward to listening in to his show and seeing what he brings to the table. Should be interesting for sure :D

Still think Conan would've been a great choice too hahaha

Getting a lot of feedback re: the Cooper show ... as I mentioned on an earlier post, there's nothing we could do to keep Cooper. It's delivered by satellite and we're too far east of the satellite footprint to get it cleanly.

Alice's weekend show is delivered online by a secure FTP site and we're able to pick that up ... so Alice is now on Q104 Saturday nights starting at 8pm.

NIkki Sixx's "Sixx Sense" is getting better every day as he and his co-host, Kerri Kasem (YES, Casey Kasem's daughter), are developing some great chemistry. He's only been a "DJ" for a few weeks, I think he's getting a handle on it pretty quickly!

Thanks for the feedback, y'all.

REplace it with Dee Shnider at least! GAWD who cares about Stixx and his clothing line??

89.9 is now on my night air....till the weekends at least.
How is it that Alice's sat is in range on the weekend but not weekdays? ... The planets must be inline then?
